Overview

As a result of this activity, students will have a greater understanding of how to use mathematics to deduce the impact of the U.S. government policy of allotment with Native American Tribes.

Learning Objectives

Students will understand the context of the policy of land allotment with Native American tribes. Students will be able to articulate a brief history of the General Allotment Act of 1887 or the Dawes Allotment Act. Students will be able to use mathematical equations to deduce the impact of this policy on tribal land loss.
