Our State Fair: Animals, Youth and Families
The State Fair still focuses on youth showing their animals and families camping out for the week to bond and renew old friendships. Our State Fair takes an in-depth look at the history of the North Dakota State Fair. It starts with its humble beginnings in the 1920s when four different cities claimed to host the “State Fair,” to the decision by the 1965 state legislature to award the official state fair to Minot, through the immense growth of the fair in the 1970s and 1980s. The documentary focuses on the agricultural aspects of the fair, youngsters from all over the state bringing their prize animals to compete. It also reminds us of why the North Dakota State Fair is so special – and recalls the magic of the midway, the grandstand, and those memories from childhood that never fade away.
