    North Dakota: Classes of Crime and Penalties

    PENALTY
    EXAMPLE OF CRIME
    AA felony Life in Prison Premeditated murder
    A felony 20 years in prison, $10,000 fine or both Intentionally causing the death of another, kidnapping, firing a weapon while committing a robbery
    B felony 10 years in prison, $10,000 fine or both Causing death of another due to reckless behavior, escaping from prison using a gun, setting fire to property
    C felony 5 years in prison, $5,000 fine or both Interfering with the arrest of a felony offender thereby creating a risk of bodily injury to others; making a false statement while under oath; stealing an airplane
    A misdemeanor 1 year prison, $2,000 fine, or both Interfering in the arrest of another person, refusing to testify, interfering in the conduct of an election, distributing obscene material
    B misdemeanor 30 days in jail, $1,000 fine, or both Willfully causing bodily harm to another; using slugs in a vending machine, disobeying a police officer in a riot
    Infraction $500 fine
